It is no longer news that Nigeria’s woodwork/furniture industry faces a shortage of skilled carpenters. Hence the need for our woodwork training program.
Joanswood Creation Limited, a leading woodworking, and furniture firm, has launched a woodworking program in Lagos, Nigeria, Africa.

Managing Director of the company, Joan Mbogu, said the training program would provide adequate skill set for the wood work/furniture industry. The ease in movement of funds and people, especially in Europe, North America, and parts of Asia, can only extend to sub-Saharan Africa if Nigerians have exportable skills.

We are very conversant with the availability of government support for other sectors with advice, mentorship programme and access to finance. Still, the Furniture industry’s biggest challenge, which is a lack of skills, is left unattended to or with little attention.

You will learn the following about woodworks & more, such as:

  • Introduction to Carpentry
  • Understanding Units of Measurements
  • Building Materials
  • Fasteners and Adhesives
  • Hand and Power Tools
  • Workshop Safety
  • Description, Uses and Maintenance of Basic Tools
  • Introduction to Furniture Design-Production Process
  • Projects
  • Training assessment

By the end of your training, you will be able to:

  • Work with a variety of specialized hand and power tools
  • Be accurate with measuring and craft calculations
  • Comply with health and safety requirements
  • Construct various types of cabinets and doors
  • Work with wood and allied materials
  • Work with technical drawings and diagrams

Training Programme Criteria

  • You must show how you have displayed the following during your career;

  • Excellence at work
  • Willingness to always follow safety guidelines
  • Basic understanding of math
  • Good command of English
  • Ability to provide for your own feeding, transportation and accommodation.
  • Only candidates with SSCE, OND, HND, B.SC and its equivalent can apply

Training Days: Tuesday – Thursday , Time: 10am -2pm daily , Duration: 3 months.
